Description
2019 Pachino Nero SanLoré DOC
by Gulfi is crafted from 100% Nero d’Avola grapes grown in the San Lorenzo vineyard in Pachino—a coastal Grand Cru site less than 700 meters from the sea, planted in sandy, mineral-rich soils. The nose is extraordinarily refined: think crushed red cherries, flint, orange peel, lavender, and violet petals, with an alluring whisper of incense. Aged for around 24 months in 500 L barrels/tonneaux, followed by at least one year in bottle, this wine offers both immediate charm and impressive aging potential. Perfectly suited to grilled red meats, strong game dishes, and aged cheeses, where its structure and finesse find ideal companions. Gulfi, founded in 1996 by Vito Catania and Salvo Foti, has pioneered the modern expression of Nero d’Avola by working organically in distinct crus across southeastern Sicily. The Nero SanLoré bottling reveals the elegant side of this grape with uncommon clarity and precision—truly a high-water mark for Sicilian red wines.
