2006 Bric dei Banditi-Barbera d’Asti DOC
Overview
- Vineyard: Vinchio (asti)
- Elevation: about 250 m. Above sea level
- Soil type: sandy and calcareous
- Exposure: southern / southwestern
- Harvesting: by hand
- Vinification: destemming, pressing, maceration with the skins for 7/8 days, controlled temperature fermentation in stainless steel aging: in stainless steel tanks and then in glass-lined cement tanks.
- Tasting notes: “Bric” means crag in piedmontese dialect, and bandits are daring and romantic: you sip this wine and you’re toasting with robin hood. Bric dei banditi is a splendid example of what can be obtained from barbera grapes, the most widely planted in piedmont. The wine is bright ruby red with garnet shimmers, its nose is vinous and delicate at the same time, subtly reminiscent of alcohol preserved cherries. It is smooth, youthful and powerful in body, and lends itself to accompany a whole meal sumptuously.
