2005 "Long Now" Laghe Rosso DOC

Overview

  • Region: Piemonte
  • Varietals: Barbera & Nebbiolo
  • Vintage: 2005
  • Alcoholic strength: 13%
  • Production: The denomination “Langhe” embraces a variety of grape growing zones which are among the best in the world. The winery is located at a short distance from the borders of the Barbaresco zone. The South-facing slopes are steep and mainly chalky. A palm tree in the centre of the terrain proves the favorable climate conditions. Due to a question of districts borders, only half of this land can be devoted to the cultivation of Nebbiolo for the creation of Barbaresco. The other plot, equally enchanting and valuable, is used to grow Nebbiolo to blend with Barbera in order to create a new product.
  • Ageing: The two wines age separately in small oak barrels for 15-18 months and are successively blended and bottled. The resulting wine rests in the bottle for 4-5 months before marketing. The outcome is an important, typically rustic and long-living wine.
  • Tasting Notes: The wine colour is violet-bluish red, almost black and is hardly transparent. It is lively and particularly pleasant. With scent and aroma of ripe fruit, blackberry, raspberry and red cherry that cannot conceal the slightly fragrance of vanilla. In the mouth it is open, full-bodied, velvety and all-embracing. The savor and elegance of the two varietals combine excellently and appear at their best expressing the pleasantness of an unforgettable taste.
