Pinot Grigio 2006

Overview

  • Region: Isonzo – Friuli-Venezia Giulia
  • Supplier: Sant Elena estate lies on the high flatlands of Isonzo, in the heart of the Isonzo D.O.C. zone and was founded in the late 19th Century. The winery aims to promote the potential of the production zone and to bring out the characteristics of the region, climate, grape variety, rootstock, pruning systems and planting density. Sant Elena continues to offer a limited range of wines to ensure top quality.
  • Terrain: Stony, alluvial soil, with low levels of organic matter
  • Varietals: Pinot Grigio
  • Vintage: 2006
  • Vinification: The grapes are soft-crushed and the free run juice is then transferred to stainless steel vats at 8°C and allowed to settle. Fermentation is started with inoculated yeasts and the wine is left on lees for about six months. In the spring following the harvest, the wine is racked to obtain a homogeneous product for bottling.
  • Pairing Recommendations: This substantial, full-flavoured Pinot Grigio should be served a broad-rimmed white wine glass at a temperature of 12°C. An excellent accompaniment for seafood risottos or fish soups and with fish-based dishes.
